well, it has been nearly 3 months since I last made an update...id better do one and get into some updates.

I guess when it comes down to it..follow the instructions.

Following the directions is harder than it sounds. I come to the build with metal working goals. everything has to be spot on. Not all directions are clear if you're doing this fir the first time. Timber boat building at this point needs to be good but if something isn't quiet right, find a solution and it should be ok. In the pictures below there are some howlers and you know what, that's ok. remember that all frame mistakes will be hidden under the skin and that good joinery you did will be gone away.

Just take care because epoxy is sticky (eventually) and it likes to gum up power tools.

This is mainly a media dump of photos. All prior to the installation of the 6mm marine ply. You will need a sheet (2400*1200) of 6mm. At this point, the build time is starting to get me down. it is a big build if you're inexperienced with this type of project. I've made some mistakes that are hard to fix and should have been caught. No one to blame but myself.

Believe it or not, building the frame was easy. The stringers slot into the correct slots and you should be ok. to keep everything true, be sure that all measurements from the stern are equal. if not things might be off. the boat may not track true in the water.

lessons learnt are to think about having 3 drills to help you. 1 with the correct bit to suit your screws, one with a decent countersink bit and the 3rd with the correct tip for your screws. The correct tip for your screws should always be a square drive (Robertson). Way less chance of breaking a tip or skipping the drive. Personally, I just got through using my favourite Milwaukee 1/4" driver/drill. quick change everything makes it super easy and quick to change bits. and don't repeat my mistake. Accidentally smearing epoxy on the drill is a recipe to make the trigger a bit crunchy. still working great and it's an example of tools I would recommend.

It's off the strongback and it has really taken shape. when this thing is built, it will be a fat bastard of a boat. it was never built to be a racer, it is built to be strong. I'm generally happy with the build so far but really hope it will fit me. I need legroom and something looks and feels short in the build. Time will tell.

the boat has been built to spec to this point. my big variations are coming.

Be(have), be safe and be good to your teachers

lets talk about boat stuff and other items

This is just a small sideways step to talk about the tools and other items that I have used thus far to build the project. If no one...
