Nothing much has happened this week for the build. Just a few things I've been mulling about how to build and more importantly I have mail!!!.
First I got my order from Sykes Rowing. A small but impportant starting package containing the replacement axels for my seat bogey and the 890mm alloy slide kits.
The other package is the hatches for the boat. I will cut the holes to install the 6" hatches next week.
If you're reading my blog and looking for help on your own build, make sure the centre of your wheels are about 220mm from centre to centre. You don't want to go much wider. I will show you the following pictures.
Here you can see how much wider the old axels would make the seat bogey (279mm). The new axels make the bogey about 220mm.

This is why I had to get the new axels.

This is at 220mm. This is about the widest you want the slides in the space provided. Yes the Racer X is a wider boat but it is still a scull. some of the parts remain an off the shelf standard.
I won't put the installation of the seat components here as we all might have slightly different systems and this one is pretty generic.
cheers
